First seen Jan 12, 2026 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 16 times

Summary

This study looked at whether drinking coffee after abdominal surgery helps the gut start working again sooner. 174 adults who had surgery were given either regular coffee, decaf coffee, or warm water three times a day. The goal was to see if coffee could reduce common problems like nausea, bloating, and trouble eating, which often happen after surgery.
