First seen Apr 09, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 7 times
Summary
This study tested whether a daily cocoa flavonol supplement could help obese teenagers aged 10 to 16 improve their body composition, metabolism, and reduce inflammation. Over 12 weeks, 104 participants either took the supplement or a placebo, alongside standard diet and exercise advice. The goal was to see if cocoa compounds could lower body fat and improve markers like insulin resistance and cholesterol.
