First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 19 times
Summary
This study aimed to better understand hearing loss by measuring electrical signals from the hearing nerve during ear surgery. Researchers studied 19 people with normal hearing or hearing loss who were already undergoing a specific type of brain surgery. They recorded nerve activity to improve a computer model of the human ear, which may help explain how hearing loss happens.
