Simple Color-Changing device could speed up help for struggling newborns

NCT ID NCT06258187

Summary

This study is testing whether adding a simple, color-changing carbon dioxide (CO2) detector to a breathing mask helps medical teams provide faster and more effective breathing support to newborns who need help right after birth. The device, called a Pedi-Cap, changes color when the baby is exhaling CO2, giving the resuscitation team a visual cue about how well the baby is breathing. Researchers will compare how long babies need breathing support when the device is used versus when it is not, to see if it improves the resuscitation process.
