Could a common heart drug fight staph infections too?

NCT ID NCT06650488

First seen Feb 01, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study looks at 300 adults with a serious staph bloodstream infection who already take aspirin for heart health. Researchers want to see if switching to clopidogrel, another heart drug that may also fight staph bacteria, leads to fewer complications or deaths. Participants are randomly assigned to keep taking aspirin or switch to clopidogrel, and the study tracks their recovery and any side effects.
