Customizing gut lengths in Weight-Loss surgery may boost results

NCT ID NCT06293703

First seen Mar 25, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 10 times

Summary

This study compares two types of gastric bypass surgery for people with severe obesity. One method uses fixed lengths for the rerouted intestine, while the other customizes the lengths based on each person's total small bowel size. The goal is to see if the customized approach leads to greater weight loss and better control of related conditions like diabetes and high blood pressure. About 262 participants will be followed long-term to measure outcomes.
