Cleaner cookstoves and ventilation could save hearts and lungs

NCT ID NCT07005193

First seen Feb 05, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 20 times

Summary

This study looks at whether switching from solid fuels (like wood or coal) to cleaner liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) stoves, and adding ventilation, can lower indoor air pollution and improve heart and lung health. About 1,200 adults who cook daily will be split into four groups: some keep their usual stoves, some get LPG stoves, some get ventilation, and some get both. Researchers will measure air pollution levels and changes in heart rate and lung function over time.
