Protein in blood may help doctors identify the cause of lung fluid buildup

NCT ID NCT07338227

First seen Jan 20, 2026 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 16 times

Summary

This study looked at whether a protein called CC16 in the blood can help doctors tell the difference between two types of severe lung fluid buildup: one caused by heart problems and one caused by other issues. Researchers measured CC16 levels in 100 adults who needed a breathing tube in the ICU. The goal was to see if this test could guide better treatment decisions.
