New dialysis recipe may cut electrolyte drops for kidney patients

NCT ID NCT07514650

First seen Apr 09, 2026 · Last updated Jun 15, 2026 · Updated 9 times

Summary

This study tests a modified dialysis protocol for ICU patients with acute kidney injury. The goal is to see if a specific type of dialysis (CVVHDF with citrate anticoagulation) reduces the loss of key minerals like potassium and magnesium, and lowers the need for extra supplements. Researchers will compare this new approach to standard dialysis in 43 adults. The study only collects data while patients need dialysis.
