Gum disease breakthrough? common mouthwash ingredient plus zinc shows promise

This study tested whether adding chlorhexidine (a common mouthwash ingredient) and zinc to standard deep-cleaning treatment helps people with early-stage gum disease (periodontitis). 44 healthy adults received either the standard cleaning plus the two additives or standard cleaning plus water. Researchers measured gum pocket depth, bleeding, and inflammation markers over 3 months to see if the combination improves healing and reduces body-wide inflammation.
