First seen Apr 14, 2026 · Last updated Jun 11, 2026 · Updated 8 times
Summary
This study tested whether adding a chlorhexidine and zinc mouthwash to standard deep-cleaning treatment helps people with early-stage gum disease (stage I or II). 44 healthy adults were split into two groups: one received the standard cleaning plus the mouthwash, the other received cleaning plus plain water. Researchers measured gum pocket depth, bleeding, and inflammation markers over 3 months to see if the mouthwash improved healing and reduced inflammation.
