Summary
This study tested whether a new extended-release tablet called nalbuphine ER could safely reduce coughing in people with a persistent, hard-to-treat cough. 66 participants with this condition took either the drug or a placebo pill for a period, then switched, while researchers tracked their cough frequency and side effects. The main goal was to see if the drug could lower the number of coughs per day over three weeks.
