Brain chemical study seeks clues to memory decline in older adults

NCT ID NCT04756232

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 18, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study looked at how a brain chemical called acetylcholine helps older adults with mild memory concerns stay focused. Researchers gave a temporary drug that blocks this chemical and measured brain activity with EEG. The goal was to understand if the brain works harder to pay attention when memory starts to slip. 19 people aged 55 and older took part.
