Early trial aims to train immune system to fight childhood cancers

NCT ID NCT04500548

Summary

This early-phase study aimed to test the safety and find the right dose of a two-drug immunotherapy (nivolumab and ipilimumab) for children, teens, and young adults whose cancers had returned or stopped responding to standard treatments. The drugs work by helping the patient's own immune system recognize and attack cancer cells. The trial specifically focused on cancers with a high number of genetic changes, as these may be more likely to respond to this type of treatment.
