New drug combo aims to heal fatty liver in diabetics

NCT ID NCT07303803

Summary

This study is testing whether a new drug called chiglitazar, when added to standard liver-protecting vitamins, can help treat a serious fatty liver disease (MASH) in people who also have type 2 diabetes. It will involve 300 adults who have both conditions. Participants will take either chiglitazar or a placebo (a dummy pill) daily for about a year and a half, along with the background vitamins, to see if the drug combination improves liver health and reduces scarring.
