First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 19 times

Summary

This study compares two techniques for closing the wound after a chest tube is removed: the purse-string suture and the plug method. Researchers want to see which one leads to better healing, fewer complications like air leaks or infections, and higher patient satisfaction. The study will include 246 adults who had a chest tube placed for traumatic lung or chest injuries.
