Cancer trial asks: is more chemo always better?

NCT ID NCT03301454

Summary

This study tested whether patients with advanced esophageal cancer should continue chemotherapy after an initial 6-week treatment if their disease hasn't progressed. All participants received 6 weeks of chemotherapy first. Those whose cancer hadn't grown were then randomly assigned to either continue chemotherapy or stop it and receive supportive care only. The goal was to see which approach better controlled the cancer and improved survival.
