New trial tests if adding chemo to radiation boosts survival in head and neck cancer

Summary
This phase 3 trial tests whether adding chemotherapy (cisplatin) to standard radiation therapy after surgery helps people with intermediate-risk head and neck squamous cell carcinoma live longer without the cancer returning. About 386 participants who have had surgery and show certain risk factors will be randomly assigned to receive either chemoradiotherapy or radiotherapy alone. The study aims to see if the combined treatment improves failure-free survival.
