Could ultrasound replace CT scans for injured kids?

NCT ID NCT03473249

First seen Jan 07, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 14 times

Summary

This study compares contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) to standard CT scans for finding internal belly injuries in children under 8 who have had blunt trauma, like from a fall or car accident. The goal is to see if CEUS is accurate enough to replace CT, which uses radiation. About 120 children will take part, and researchers will measure how well CEUS detects injuries compared to CT.
