New MRI technique could sharpen epilepsy surgery targeting

NCT ID NCT07316972

First seen Jan 06, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 23 times

Summary

This study tests a new MRI method (CEST) to measure brain chemicals like glucose and glutamate in people with drug-resistant temporal lobe epilepsy who are candidates for surgery. The goal is to see if these chemical maps can more precisely identify the brain region causing seizures, potentially improving surgical outcomes. Twenty participants will undergo CEST scans, and results will be compared with standard pre-surgical evaluations.
