Brain zaps show promise for rare movement disorder

NCT ID NCT07250321

First seen Jan 08, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 15 times

Summary

This study tests a non-invasive brain stimulation technique called tDCS in 16 people with degenerative ataxia, a rare condition that affects balance and coordination. Researchers will use motion sensors and brain recordings to see if stimulating the cerebellum can improve walking and movement. The goal is to find a new way to ease symptoms, not to cure the disease.
