Summary

This study tests a new depression treatment that combines cognitive behavioral therapy with faith-based principles, delivered by therapists and pastors in church settings. It aims to reduce depressive symptoms in African American adults. The trial will enroll 50 participants and measure changes in depression severity using standard questionnaires.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
Cognitive behavioral therapy combined with faith-based principles, delivered by therapists and pastors
What this could lead to
If it works, this could provide a culturally tailored, evidence-based option for treating depression in African American communities.
What could go wrong
This is a small feasibility study with only 50 participants, so results may not apply broadly. It is not yet proven to work better than standard treatments.
