Sham surgery showdown: is MALS release worth it?
NCT ID NCT05468580
First seen Mar 22, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 6 times
Summary
This study aims to settle the debate over whether releasing a compressed artery in the belly truly helps people with Median Arcuate Ligament Syndrome (MALS). About 70 patients will either get the real surgery or a sham (fake) operation, and their pain levels will be compared after 6 months. The goal is to see if the procedure actually reduces symptoms like severe abdominal pain after eating.
