Summary

This study is testing the Carmat Total Artificial Heart in 104 people with severe, irreversible heart failure who are waiting for a heart transplant. The device is designed to replace both heart chambers and keep patients alive until a donor heart becomes available. Researchers are measuring how many patients survive without major complications like disabling stroke or device failure for 180 days after implantation.
