First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 23, 2026 · Updated 25 times

Summary

This early-stage trial tests a treatment called CAR-T cell therapy for people with severe autoimmune diseases that haven't responded to other treatments. The therapy uses a patient's own immune cells, modified to target and reset the immune system. Only 3 participants will be enrolled to check safety and whether the approach can reduce symptoms and the need for ongoing medication.

What this could lead to

If it works, this could offer a way to control severe autoimmune diseases without needing lifelong medication.

What could go wrong

This is a very early, tiny trial with only 3 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. CAR-T therapy also carries risks like severe immune reactions.
