New cell therapy aims to boost remission for Tough-to-Treat myeloma

NCT ID NCT05032820

Summary

This study tested an experimental cell therapy for adults with multiple myeloma whose cancer did not respond well enough to a prior stem cell transplant and standard maintenance therapy. Doctors collected and reprogrammed the patients' own immune cells (CAR T-cells) to target the cancer, then infused them back. The goal was to see if this one-time treatment could lead to a deeper remission, but patients also continued taking a standard maintenance drug for up to a year afterward.
