Shoulder surgery showdown: does extra stitching cost athletes their range of motion?

NCT ID NCT07520669

First seen Apr 16, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 8 times

Summary

This study compares two surgical techniques for treating recurrent shoulder instability. Some surgeons add a capsule repair (capsuloplasty) to the standard Latarjet bone block procedure, while others do not. The trial will measure whether the added repair limits external rotation, which is important for athletes in contact sports. 104 participants will be randomly assigned to one of the two approaches and followed for one year.
