Scientists probe why cancer drugs turn body against itself

NCT ID NCT04119713

Summary

This study aims to understand why some cancer patients develop autoimmune conditions as a side effect of immunotherapy drugs called checkpoint inhibitors. Researchers will observe 600 cancer patients who are prescribed these drugs, collecting blood samples to study their immune systems. The goal is to identify genetic and immune factors that predict who might experience these side effects, but no treatments or interventions are being tested.
