New hope for blood cancer patients: canakinumab trial targets Low-Risk MDS and CMML

Summary
This study tests a drug called canakinumab in people with low- or intermediate-risk myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) or chronic myelomonocytic leukemia (CMML). The drug is a lab-made antibody that may help slow cancer growth and improve blood cell counts. About 76 adults will receive injections under the skin to see if it reduces the need for blood transfusions and controls the disease.
