New combo pill helps control blood sugar in diabetes
NCT ID NCT02220920
First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 19 times
Summary
This study tested whether adding canagliflozin (a diabetes pill) to insulin helps people with type 2 diabetes control their blood sugar better than insulin alone. About 146 adults with type 2 diabetes who were already on a stable insulin dose took either canagliflozin or a placebo for 16 weeks. The main goal was to see if the combination lowered HbA1c (a measure of average blood sugar) more than insulin alone.
