Electric jolts may trick muscles into staying fit without exercise

NCT ID NCT07161648

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 31 times

Summary

This study tests whether 100 minutes of electrical stimulation to the muscles can prevent the negative effects of not exercising, specifically on how the body handles fat after a high-fat meal. Researchers will enroll 30 regularly active adults who can jog or run for at least an hour. Participants will have their fat metabolism measured after eating a fatty meal to see if the electrical stimulation helps.
