Early tree nut feeding may shield Peanut-Allergic babies from more allergies

NCT ID NCT04801823

First seen Feb 22, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 10 times

Summary

This study looked at whether giving tree nuts (like almonds, cashews, and walnuts) early to babies with peanut allergy could stop them from developing tree nut allergies. About 212 infants aged 4-11 months with peanut allergy took part. Some babies were given tree nuts under medical supervision and then at home, while others followed standard home introduction. The goal was to see if early, regular eating of tree nuts reduces the risk of tree nut allergy by 18 months of age.
