Jaw surgery bone paste under scrutiny: infection risk checked
NCT ID NCT02918344
First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 19 times
Summary
This study looked at 196 patients who had jaw-lengthening surgery to see if using a calcium phosphate paste leads to more infections or the need to remove surgical hardware. The paste is meant to improve stability and prevent the jaw from shifting back, but researchers wanted to know if the benefits outweigh the risks. The goal was to help doctors decide whether to use the paste.
