New drug tested to calm agitated youth with serious mental health conditions

NCT ID NCT05025605

Summary

This study is testing whether an experimental drug called BXCL501 can safely and effectively calm acute agitation in children and teenagers with schizophrenia or bipolar disorder. About 140 participants aged 10-17 will receive either the drug or a placebo while staying in a hospital or research setting. Researchers will measure changes in agitation symptoms before and after treatment to see if the drug helps.
