Summary
This early-phase study tests whether a sublingual form of dexmedetomidine (BXCL501) is safe and shows promise for treating alcohol use disorder in people who also have PTSD. Ten heavy drinkers with PTSD will take the drug and be monitored for changes in blood pressure, anxiety, and PTSD symptoms over 28 days. The goal is to gather enough safety and early effectiveness data to plan larger trials.
