New gel may reduce repeat surgeries for kids with esophageal blockages
NCT ID NCT07560462
First seen May 02, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 4 times
Summary
This study tests whether applying a budesonide gel after a balloon dilation procedure can help children with narrowed esophagus (from prior surgery) swallow better and need fewer repeat procedures. About 32 children under 12 will be randomly assigned to receive either the gel or a placebo. The goal is to see if the gel reduces the number of dilations needed and lowers the chance of the stricture returning.
