A simple cheek swab could predict deadly heart risks in young people

NCT ID NCT04257994

First seen May 17, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 3 times

Summary

This study tests whether a painless cheek swab can spot protein changes linked to inherited heart conditions that cause sudden cardiac death in young people. Researchers will collect samples from 26 patients and at-risk family members. If successful, this could replace risky heart biopsies and help diagnose hidden heart disorders early.
