First seen Sep 30, 2025 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 35 times
Summary
This study tests a new gene therapy called BS01 for people with advanced dry age-related macular degeneration (AMD) that causes blind spots. The treatment uses a harmless virus to deliver a light-sensitive protein to the eye, aiming to restore some vision. About 40 adults aged 50-85 will receive either the gene therapy or a sham injection to check safety and whether it improves eyesight.
