Summary

This study tests whether adding cervical and sacroiliac joint mobilization to a Pilates exercise program reduces pain, stress, and jaw clenching in adults with bruxism (teeth grinding). Thirty-eight participants will either do Pilates alone or Pilates plus manual therapy twice a week for 8 weeks. Researchers will measure changes in pain intensity, perceived stress, and jaw function to see if the combined approach offers extra benefits.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
manual therapy (cervical and sacroiliac mobilization) plus a Pilates-based exercise program
What this could lead to
If successful, this approach could offer a non-drug, non-surgical way to reduce pain, stress, and jaw clenching in people with bruxism.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with only 38 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The added benefit of manual therapy over Pilates alone may be small or absent.
