New imaging technique reveals brown fat secrets in diabetes
NCT ID NCT05092945
First seen Feb 17, 2026 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 13 times
Summary
This study looked at how brown adipose tissue (brown fat) works in people with type 2 diabetes. Researchers used special PET scans with a fat-based tracer to measure brown fat activity more accurately than before. The goal was to better understand brown fat's role in metabolism, not to test a treatment. Only 6 participants were involved, so results are very early.
