Gene hunt: new study aims to predict bronchodilator response in bronchiolitis
NCT ID NCT06946264
First seen May 14, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study is testing whether a child's genes and physical exam can predict if they will respond to albuterol, a common breathing treatment, for bronchiolitis. Researchers will give 400 children aged 3 to 24 months either albuterol or a placebo and measure changes in breathing. The goal is to create a tool that helps doctors decide who should get this treatment, avoiding unnecessary use in those unlikely to benefit.
