First seen Apr 02, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 5 times
Summary
This study compares a pineapple extract called bromelain to standard steroid treatment for oral lichen planus, a chronic inflammatory condition causing painful mouth sores. About 42 adults with symptoms will use either a bromelain gel or a steroid gel for 4 weeks. Researchers will measure changes in sore severity and pain levels to see if bromelain offers a safer alternative.
