Summary
This study tests whether a brief, nurse-led counseling session can help smokers quit before elective surgery. About 125 adult smokers will be randomly assigned to receive either the counseling plus a booklet or usual care. Their smoking status will be checked on surgery day and one month later using breath and saliva tests.
