New sensor aims to spot surgery complications faster
NCT ID NCT03757793
Summary
This study tested a special sensor that uses harmless light to measure oxygen levels in tissue after breast reconstruction surgery. The goal was to see if this non-invasive device could detect early signs of poor blood flow in the newly reconstructed breast, which is a serious but rare complication. The study involved 18 participants who had a specific type of reconstruction using tissue from the abdomen.
