Could shaving extra tissue replace lab tests during breast cancer surgery?

NCT ID NCT07244588

First seen Nov 25, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 24 times

Summary

This study looks at whether removing a thin layer of tissue around a breast tumor during surgery is a safe and practical alternative to sending samples to the lab for immediate analysis. It involves 30 women with early-stage breast cancer who are eligible for breast-conserving surgery. Researchers will compare how often cancer cells are found at the edge of the removed tissue and how many women need a second surgery, as well as costs and surgery time.
