Shorter radiation for breast cancer: can 3 treatments match 5?

NCT ID NCT02755896

Summary

This study is testing whether a shorter radiation schedule (3 treatments) is as good as a slightly longer one (5 treatments) for women with early-stage breast cancer who have had surgery. The main goal is to see if the shorter schedule causes similar levels of skin hardening (fibrosis) while still controlling the cancer. It involves 350 post-menopausal women and follows them for up to 10 years.
