Calming brain storms: new hope for recovery after common elderly brain surgery

NCT ID NCT04966546

Summary

This study aimed to see if a drug called memantine could calm harmful 'brain waves' that sometimes occur after surgery to drain a chronic brain bleed. Researchers planned to monitor these brain waves in older adult patients after their surgery. If the waves were detected, some patients would receive the drug for a week to see if it reduced the waves and helped with recovery.
