Major trial aims to stop seizures before they start in brain surgery patients

NCT ID NCT07239115

Summary

This study is testing whether a medication called levetiracetam can safely prevent seizures in adults after they have surgery to remove a brain tumor. About 558 patients who have never had a seizure before will be randomly assigned to receive either the real medication or a placebo (dummy pill) for three months after their operation. The goal is to see if this routine preventive treatment reduces the risk of seizures and improves recovery.
