Zapping the brain to calm mania: a new approach tested

NCT ID NCT05445466

Summary

This study tested whether a non-invasive, personalized form of electrical brain stimulation could help reduce symptoms of mania in people with bipolar or schizoaffective disorder. Researchers targeted a specific brain area linked to impulsivity and reward using a cap with electrodes. The goal was to see if this stimulation could improve symptoms and thinking patterns better than a sham (fake) treatment or a different type of stimulation.
