Brain zaps for smokers: study sees who quits best

NCT ID NCT06991062

First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 15 times

Summary

This study looks at how people's brains react to emotional triggers and whether that affects how well a treatment called rTMS (repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation) helps them quit smoking. Researchers will enroll 100 smokers aged 21 to 60 to understand individual differences in brain responses. The goal is to learn more, not to test a new cure or treatment directly.
